Tillykke med fodselsdagen!

Happy birthday Sofie... I hope the clothes fit, and you get spoilt rotten by Jean! ;-) Am sorry to admit that it has been a full two years since I last visited Sofie in Copenhagen, but we will have to sort that out this year! Speaking of anniversaries... I have now officially been living in Cambridge a whole year! How time has flown!!!!!!!

Anyway... the weekend just gone was quite busy, and very nice! Friday consisted of a dental appointment for me (a filling... hmmm...), and a full medical check-up for Mark, which went really well! So we are not certified fit and healthy - well me orally, and him physically... Friday night we just popped to the local for a bit, and had a bit of an early night ready for Mark to return to work Saturday. The filling made me realise how bad life must be for Mark's mum at the moment with her ongoing facial numbness... I only had to endure a couple of hours with a numb mouth (after a local anaesthetic for the filling), but it put me in a bad enough mood (I felt very self-conscious) that I didn't go with the usual suspects to the pub on Friday. A little insight which only served to make me feel more concern for her - I really don't know how she copes.

Saturday morning I went to view progress at Jamie and Adele's new place. They are making progress with it, and it looks like it is starting to come together! Cannot believe how many frogs they have in one of the ponds in their garden!! Mia would be in frog-murder-heaven... although, I think their cat Pepe is managing to diminish numbers slowly! Saturday afternoon I went with Kurt and John (Mark's dad) to see the local footie team play - we won, which was a good result! Although the pitch looked like chocolate pudding after the match, which was down to all the rain we have had in the last few days! In the evening, I cooked sausage and mash for Mark, Kurt and myself, and we watched Gattaca, which is a film I really like... very cosy ;-)

Sunday, I popped over to TK Maxx with Robert and Emma - huge mistake, as I always a) spend too much, and b) end up with clothes I am not sure I like when I get home... this time though, I was fairly restrained and got away with a pair of Miss Sixty jeans (I only bought those as have never managed to get a pair on before, as they are a bit mean with their sizes!!!!), and a very cheap (£13, down from £150) but gorgeous Ice Maiden jacket, which I can add to the mountain of jackets I already have! I think I will have to pacify Mark by taking some old ones to the charity shop... In the afternoon, I went to Mark's parents for lunch, and spent some time there with Mark's sister and her children, which is always fun. Katie (3.5 years old) and I ran a pretend cafe, but I kept messing things up by mistaking the pretend pot of coffee granules for the pretend sugar, and the cereal box for a block of cheese... it meant that our cafe had to be closed down for a half hour while we had a "kitchen meeting" to sort out what pretend container contained what! ;-) Obviously I need more training... Last night, we just had an early night in prep for work today.

Tonight am planning a run immediately after work, and a bit of a clean-up! Having two men to look after isn't easy you know! ;-) Add a cat into the mix who has run out of treat biscuits (the only way to shut her up), and who has recently discovered a small nest of homeless mice in the garden following the demolition of our old outhouse, you get chaos!

Take care,

Hayls
